Job Description:
DXC are hiring a Data Center Manager for our site based in Warton, Lancashire.
Due to the secure nature of the account, candidates should hold or be willing to undergo SC clearance
Position Objective:
Manage the conduct of all DXC Employees, Contractors, and Vendors in the data hall to preserve the integrity of the environment; Oversee data centre security and access requirements to the Facility and Data Hall(s), ensure Security manage sites according to documented standards; Initiate regular reviews of permanent & long-term temporary data centre access in accordance with Security processes; Provide audit support; Perform data centre tours; Manage and provide oversight of all physical changes within each Data Hall; Interface with the Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) provider to ensure proper controls and monitoring of the environmental condition of the data hall (temperature, humidity, fire suppression, power resilience); Provide management oversight of all DXC Contingents (Data Center and M&E) in delivery of services; Review, communicate and monitor completion of the facility maintenance plan according to DXC and manufacturer specifications; Perform and ensure completion of data centre capacity reporting; Perform tools deployment, utilization, validation and oversight; Participate in Maintain Repair Replace Upgrade (MRRU) submission planning and review for DXC owned facilities; Provide MRRU project oversight, Ensures all data centre standards and guidelines are followed; Develop DC Facility business continuity plans and execute annual exercises; Oversight of all complementary services provided; Support Audit & Compliance in completing threat, vulnerability and risk assessment (TVRA) assessments; Support Workload Placement in completing Request For Proposal (RFP) and sales questionnaires related to DC workload placement; Ensure that all changes to IT equipment in the data hall utilize an approved HP change/incident and problem management system.
Functional Expertise:
At least 3-5 years physical onsite Data Center experience working in a Data Center environment
- Experience with mechanical and electrical planning and support
- Knowledge of basic electrical requirements and conversions (i.e. Power Management)
- Knowledge of basic cooling equipment and technical specifications (i.e. Airflow Management)
- Good customer communication skills and ability to represent Data Center during client facing meetings and tours.
- Ability to support Data Center Audits and Certifications
- Experience working in a Structured ITIL and or ISO environment utilizing Problem, Change, and Incident disciplines
- Experience with Capacity management tools and equipment
- Excellent communication and written skills in English
- Ability to work multiple projects simultaneously
- Proficient in MS-Office Suite
- May require Government Security Clearance
- Great team work capabilities
- 24/7 support capabilities with On-Call Duty
