Position Summary & Responsibilities

Position Summary:

This is a direct care position, responsible for providing assistance with activities of daily living for residents of the Kansas Veterans’ Home (KVH). KVH is “A Place of Honor” that Veterans and qualified Veteran family members call home. Each unit or “neighborhood” has room for up to 26 residents and our Nurse Aides play a vital role in the continued success of our 5-star home.

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Support residents with activities of daily living; Document ADL’s
    • Oral care, dressing, bathing, toileting, transporting, turning, and nutrition
  • Perform related routine activities such as changing linens and administering simple therapeutic treatments/procedures
  • Answer call lights and provide assistance
  • Obtain and record vital signs
  • Measure and records input and output; Collect specimen
  • Places and removes protective or assistive devices
  • Ensure residents are clean, dry, and comfortable
  • Maintain a safe environment
  • An essential function of this position is regular and predictable attendance.

Qualifications

Licensing & Certification:

  • Possess a current certification by the Kansas Department of Aging as a Certified Nurse Aide pursuant to K.A.R. 28-39-165

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must successfully bass background check as required by K.S.A. 39-970.

Preferred Qualifications (Candidates may be screen based on qualifications):

  • Six (6) months of professional work experience as a C.N.A. or caregiver.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to function effectively under stress
  • Ability to identify basic differences in situations and determine appropriate action
  • A helpful and sympathetic attitude toward patients.
  • A positive work history.

Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements:

  • Must take and pass a drug screening within 24 hours of being offered the position.
  • Obtain a Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate (Request yours here.)
  • Pass a criminal background screening.
